The "Scream of the Araras” was a self-portrait inspired by my trip to the Parque das Aves (Bird Park) in Foz do Iguaçu, Brasil. The Parque das Aves is rescue and conservation centre for birds, which they have a huge centre for Araras (Macaws) and it is gloriously beautiful, where the macaws fly above your heads and land right beside you. They are big, majestic and colourful birds and it is hard not to be hypnotised by them and by their sound.

The mini story in my mind to create this self-portrait was a woman cursed to become an arara, if she ever fell in love, so she lives in the deep of the tropical forest with the araras faraway from human society.
